★This new product has turned the idea that a ligature is simply “a component to secure the mouthpiece and reed” on its head.

“A ligature is a device which holds a reed onto a mouthpiece.” This idea has evolved. With its new concept, the Wired Ligature transfers vibrations generated at the reed and mouthpiece directly into the neck.

Saxophonist Shun Kumagai devised the Wired Ligature after realizing that the saxophone’s neck cork absorbed the vibration that occurred between mouthpiece and reed.

There are many musical genres these days, and they have become more diverse. Therefore, many sound qualities are necessary. From these needs, an idea was born: “If we can transfer vibration to the sax’s body directly, we’ll be able to increase its volume and change its sound quality.

★Transmission of vibration
The Wired Ligature’s main feature is its function as a bridge transferring vibrations generated by the mouthpiece and reed directly into the neck, bypassing the neck cork entirely.

Furthermore, by applying a manufacturing process of bending the metal wires without ever cutting them, we succeeded in efficiently transferring vibrations from the mouthpiece to the instrument body with no cutting or attenuation.

The Wired Ligature efficiently catches all vibrations occurring in the coiled reed and mouthpiece design and transfers them past the neck directly to the instrument body. As a result, the sound volume is successfully increased.

The Wired Ligature deserves acclaim for its rounded design. It avoids any acute angles and produces smooth oscillations that better deliver sound to the neck.
